Samajwadi infighting turns ugly

Samajwadi infighting turns ugly
Rampur:

The battle within the Samajwadi Party which centres around Amar Singh, Azam Khan and former actress Jayaprada's nomination from Rampur is getting murkier by the day.

After violence and stone throwing, Jayaprada has officially complained against the morphed pictures of her that are being circulated.

"I am going to die if this is the kind of campaign against me," said Jayaprada, candidate, Samajwadi Party.

The posters allegedly of Jayaprada were distributed across Rampur forcing her to take matters to the Election Commission.

It's a war that has clearly gone out of hand, even party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav admitted his helplessness publicly.

"Azam Khan used to listen to me but he is not listening to me anymore and I want to convey it to him that I have given Jayaprada the right to fight on the symbol," said Mulayam Singh Yadav, president, Samajwadi Party.

Azam Khan's single-minded focus is defeating Jayaprada is an open secret in Rampur is certainly not listening.

"I am not against Samajwadi Party I am against the situation in Rampur, which exists all over Uttar Pradesh," said Azam Khan, General Secretary, Samajwadi Party.

And the Congress is making the most of the rift in the Samajwadi Party, Azam Khan is openly campaigning for Noor Bano, the Congress candidate who is fighting against SP's Jayaprada.

And as the battle gets uglier, the Samajwadi Party seems heading for a split down the middle.
