Price rise: Yadav trio, Paswan the alternative, says Lalu

New Delhi: He was the Railways Minister in UPA-1, but though he is an ally giving outside support to UPA-2, RJD President Lalu Yadav now says the Manmohan Singh government should go quickly for failing to curb spiralling prices.

Speaking to NDTV, Lalu says the Yadav trio - Mulayam, Sharad and himself, and Ram Vilas Paswan are the alternative.

"My party is a small party but my voice is very strong in comparison to voice of other political parties. We are sufficient we want the solution. The government has to solve the problem and that's why we are agitating," says the RJD President.

After months of protest, there's some hope now of a possible compromise between political parties on price rise. It seems the government and the opposition are talking to end the deadlock in parliament over price rise.

The government hopes both Houses will adopt resolution on price crisis. The opposition parties are ready for the compromise, provided the resolution is strongly worded. The language of the resolution is now being discussed.

Meanwhile senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha was non-committal about the possibility of a compromise.

"The possibility of a compromise depends entirely on the attitude of the government. If the government had agreed to our adjournment motion, then the parliament would have been functioning. If they had agreed to our demand for a discussion under Rule 184 in Lok Sabha and Rule 168 in Rajya Sabha, the stalemate would have ended long ago. So it is entirely the government which is responsible for this because they are applying double standards," he said.
