Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning spent time with tea garden workers at the Monohari Tea Estate in Dibrugarh before leaving for Mohanbari Airport to attend election rallies in Gogamukh and Behali.

During his visit to the tea garden, the Prime Minister interacted with 19 women workers and spent nearly half an hour with them. In a symbolic gesture, he plucked fresh tea leaves and filled them into a traditional basket.

He also listened to the concerns of the workers and discussed key issues such as education, healthcare, and wages.

The Prime Minister further witnessed and enjoyed a traditional Jhumur dance performance presented by the workers.

Following the interaction, PM Modi departed for Mohanbari Airport and is en route to Gogamukh and Behali, where he is scheduled to address election rallies as part of the ongoing campaign.

Taking to X, PM Narendra Modi wrote: "The plucking of tea leaves was followed by the women talking about their culture and of course a selfie!".

"We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hardwork and perseverance have enhanced Assam's pride. Here are some more glimpses from a tea garden in Dibrugarh," PM Modi said.

He said, "Tea is the soul of Assam! The tea from here has made its way across the world. This morning in Dibrugarh, I went to a tea garden and interacted with women working here. It was a very memorable experience".

Talking to reporter, Rajen Lohia, owner of Monohari Tea Estate said, "Its a great experience for us. PM Narendra Modi at around 8.45 am went to Monohari tea garden interacted with the women's of the garden and he plucked tea leaves. For half an hour, he interacted with them and try to knows about them. I am very happy that I am also the part of that moment. He just a humble and nicely talked with the workers,".

"PM Modi yesterday, came to Monohari resort and stayed the night here. We are very much happy and can't express our feelings," Lohia said.

"We never imagined that a Prime Minister of India will came to our garden and interact with us. Its a life time experience for us and we are very happy," said a worker.

Monohari tea estate was established during British era is one of the finest tea garden in upper Assam.
