Pakistan wants Ajmal Kasab arrested

New Delhi: The Pakistan government wants to arrest the lone surviving terrorist of the Mumbai attacks, Ajmal Kasab, so that he may be produced in court in Pakistan and tried there.

A Pakistani anti-terror court conducting the trial of seven suspects for their involvement in the 26/11 attacks accepted an application from the prosecution for Ajmal Kasab to be declared a fugitive and adjourned the case for a week on Saturday. It is not clear if this means Pakistan will ask India for Kasab's extradition. Earlier, Pakistan had said that the Kasab's confession to Mumbai police cannot be admitted as evidence in court in their country.

Till now, Pakistan has refused to act against the Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafeez Saeed, the mastermind behind the 26/11 attack, against whom India has given evidence in the dossiers handed over in the India-Pak Foreign Secretary level talks.
