Now, Law Minister warns Sanjay Dutt

New Delhi:

Union Law Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj on Thursday had some strong words for actor-turned-politician Sanjay Dutt, who has stopped short of naming him as the minister who allegedly tried to threaten and intimidate him.

Stating that the actor is playing into wrong hands, Bhardwaj warned Sanjay that he would regret his actions.

"The kind of activities he has been associated with, his career can't go too far. He should follow in his father's footsteps instead," said Bhardwaj.

"Our party has helped them in so many ways. You should ask his sister how she ran around when he was in jail. How can he forget all that she has done?" he added.

Sanjay Dutt had on Wednesday said that a Union Minister from the Congress party threatened him that the Supreme Court verdict would go against him if he contested for the Samajwadi Party.

In an exclusive interview to NDTV's group editor Barkha Dutt, Sanjay said he had taped evidence of the conversation he had with this minister in a sting operation, which he did all by himself.

Sources said the Samajwadi Party was pointing at the Law Minister. Speaking to NDTV, Law Minister HR Bhardwaj had earlier admitted that Sanjay Dutt did meet him at his house at 10:30 in the morning on the day the Supreme Court reserved its verdict. But he called Sanjay Dutt and Amar Singh's allegations a complete lie.

Meanwhile, the Congress has dismissed Sanjay's allegations, saying he is playing politics.
