No regrets about handling of Karnataka, says LK Advani
Panaji: Senior BJP leader L K Advani today said that his party does not regret the way it handled senior leaders in Karnataka accused of corruption.

Mr Advani is in Goa as part of his country-wide tour to promote clean governance.

In July, the BJP forced BS Yeddyurappa to quit as Chief Minister of Karnataka after he was indicted in a report on illegal mining that declared him guilty of accepting kickbacks from companies who were given mining licences. Mr Yeddyurappa was arrested on October 15 and is currently in Bangalore's Central Jail.

The BJP in the state has seen a revolt since then by Mr Yeddyurappa's supporters, many of who are senior ministers.

"The problem in Karnataka is because of the party dealing with the corruption firmly," Mr Advani said, adding "Therefore I don't regret anything."

Mr Advani arrived in Goa from Karnataka on Tuesday.  "We have to deal with corruption firmly whether it is in the Congress or my party," he said.

Mr Advani, who addressed two public meetings and half a dozen public receptions in Goa, will leave for Maharashtra this evening.
