Najeeb Jung Rejects Former Haryana Chief Minister OP Chautala's Parole Plea

Former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala had on October 5 requested parole for medical treatment which Najeeb Jung rejected.

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today rejected the parole plea of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, an official statement in New Delhi said.

Mr Chautala had on October 5 requested parole for medical treatment which Mr Jung rejected, saying: "There should be a gap of minimum six months from the date of termination of last parole. He had last availed one month parole from April 4 to May 5 which was further extended up to May 28. He had surrendered on June 3."

Mr Chautala is currently behind bars at Tihar Jail after being convicted in a case relating to the recruitment of teachers in Haryana.

Earlier this month, the Aam Aadmi Party led-Delhi government had accused Mr Jung of 'pressuring' Home Minister Satyendar Jain to allow Mr Chautala out on parole.

In response, Mr Jain had argued against the move citing prison rules and the gravity of the charges against Mr Chautala.
