'My Truest Friend': Priyanka Gandhi Leads Wayanad Cheer Squad For Rahul

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted an emotional tweet asking voters to take care of brother Rahul.

New Delhi:

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who accompanied her brother Rahul Gandhi as he filed his nomination from Kerala's Wayanad this morning, posted an emotional tweet asking voters of the constituency to "take care" of her "truest friend".

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress president, is contesting a second seat in addition to his traditional Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh for the first time since he started contesting elections in 2004.

"My brother, my truest friend, and by far the most courageous man I know. Take care of him Wayanad, he won't let you down," Priyanka Gandhi tweeted soon after the paperwork was done.

The Gandhi siblings also took out a roadshow in the hilly constituency in Left-ruled Kerala.

This is the 23rd tweet from Priyanka Gandhi, who joined Twitter in February, days after debuting in politics as a Congress general secretary in charge of a part of Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka, two years younger to Rahul Gandhi, stayed away from active politics all this time, sticking to campaigning in the Gandhi family strongholds of Amethi and neighbouring Raebareli, the constituency of her mother Sonia Gandhi.

A huge crowd of Congress workers followed Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka from the place where their helicopter landed in Wayanad, to the election office and the roadshow later.

As Rahul Gandhi launched his campaign in Wayanad, Smriti Irani, his rival in Amethi, attacked him saying he had cheated his constituency. "I want to warn Wayanad. If you want to see Rahul Gandhi's capabilities as an MP, come and see the state of Amethi. The person who has been betraying Amethi for the last 15 years has come to your place to cheat you," said the Union Minister, visiting Amethi at the same time as the Congress chief's tour of Wayanad.
