Japanese PM Shinzo Abe is warmly welcomed by PM Modi in Osaka.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe ahead of the two-day G20 Summit slated to take place in Osaka on Friday. He will be meeting several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump. He will also hold a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit with Russian and Chinese Presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, respectively.
PM Modi arrived in the Japanese city of Oaska earlier on Thursday. G20 summit is centred around the theme "Human-Centred Future Society" and will adopt a declaration. India has participated in all the G20 summits held so far and will host the summit in 2022 for the first time.
Besides India and the host Japan, other participants are the US, UK, European Union, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Russia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Korea, South Africa, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

Chinese President arrives in Osaka for G20 Summit- Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Osaka, Japan to attend the G20 summit during which he would hold bilateral talks with world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, amid heightened trade tensions with America, an issue that is likely to dominate the event.
- Mr Xi is due to meet Prime Minister Modi during the Informal Summit of the leaders of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and RIC (Russia, India, China) on the sidelines of the June 28-29 event.
- The Chinese President is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Vice Premier Liu He, who is also China's chief negotiator in trade talks with the US, State Councillor Yang Jiechi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
- The Chinese President is also expected to hold crucial talks with Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G20 summit meeting over the weekend.
- The leaders are likely to discuss the status of the trade agreement and find ways to finalise the deal, which has been stuck for the past several weeks as America alleges that China went back on its commitment from the draft trade bill.
