New Delhi:
Suresh Kalmadi has written to the government to protest against his dismissal as the Chairman of the Organising Committee (OC) for the Commonwealth Games.
Mr Kalmadi was fired on Tuesday by new Sports Minister Ajay Maken. Mr Kalmadi's deputy, Lalit Bhanot, was also fired as Secretary General of the Committee.
The CBI had written to the government alleging that both Mr Kalmadi and Mr Bhanot were trying to obstruct its inquiry into the massive financial irregularities that were a part of the Games.
The Commonwealth Games were held on Delhi in October. The Committee was asked to extend its term so that there would be some accountability as the CBI began and conducted its investigation.
