Jairam Ramesh Snubbed In Rajya Sabha By Deputy Chairman

The incident happened when Congress member Jairam Ramesh said that a JD(U) member should be allowed to conclude his remarks, which irked the Rajya Sabha deputy chairman.

New Delhi: Congress member Jairam Ramesh was today snubbed in Rajya Sabha by Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien for asking him to let a Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) member complete his remarks on the Budget during a discussion on the issue.

"I will decide. Do you have to control (the House)? Why are you doing it? I will decide on whether to let him complete or not. This kind of intervention is not good," an angry Mr Kurien told Mr Ramesh, a former minister.

Mr Ramesh also said something in response, which was not audible.

It happened when Pawan Varma of JD(U) was participating in the debate on the General Budget. Mr Kurien asked him to cut short, saying he can continue tomorrow. At this, Mr Varma said he was about to conclude his speech.

However, as Mr Kurien persisted, Mr Ramesh said Mr Varma should be allowed to conclude his remarks, which irked the deputy chairman.
