IIM Ahmedabad hikes fee by 9.6 per cent

Ahmedabad: The premier Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, has hiked fees by 9.6 per cent for the 2010-2012 batch.

The fee revision was announced on Tuesday. The institute said in a statement that Post Graduate Programme (PGP) students would now pay Rs. 13.70 lakh for the two-year course - Rs. 6.6 lakh for the first year and the balance for the second year.

This fee includes all costs other than cost of food.

The statement said the fee had been arrived at "after taking into account the significant increase in costs due to implementation of Sixth Pay Commission's Recommendations as well as general rise in operating costs due to high inflation in the economy."

It said IIM-A would continue to provide fee waiver to students based on family income. In 2009-10, 41 students were educated at IIM-A free, it said.
