Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir:
Kashmir's dream of an all-weather surface link turned into reality today after Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi inaugurated a rail link between Banihal and Qazigund in the Valley.
He addressed a rally in Banihal hours later. Here are the highlights:
- Today we give Jammu and Kashmir an engineering marvel
- People working on this faced a lot of geographical challenges while constructing this.
- This is not only an engineering marvel but it is a link that will connect the state to rest of the country
- Products made here will reach other parts of the country easily and vice versa
- This will also provide employment in the state
- We will keep connecting this railway line to other railway lines of the country
