Doctors who allegedly locked up teen help turn into mystery
New Delhi: A doctor-couple in Delhi, wanted by the police for allegedly torturing their domestic help, has returned to India according to their lawyer. Sources at the airport also confirm the couple arrived in Delhi on March 30th. But the police insist this is incorrect, and says that airports have been alerted to look out for them.

A Delhi court refused to grant them anticipatory bail today which means Dr Sanjay Verma and Dr Sumita Verma can be arrested when they surface.  "They are not evading the law, but availing it," said Shailendra Bhardwaj, who is representing the doctors.

Their 13-year-old help was discovered shouting for help on the balcony of their home in Dwarka while they were holidaying in Thailand.

After she was rescued by firemen, the teen who is from Jharkhand said she was regularly assaulted by the doctors, who allegedly used CCTVs to monitor her while they were at work.
If she was spotted eating any food other than the two rotis they gave to her every day, she would allegedly be punished. Her body bears several bruises and scars.

Mr Bhardwaj says the teen must have accidentally locked herself into her employers' home while they were away.

"She was not ill-treated, she was left at home with Rs. 500 in cash and the key. She must have locked the key in the bedroom... the couple was in constant touch with her," he said.

He also said that a medical test shows that the teen was not malnourished.
