Do your homework on Hasan Ali, thunders court
Mumbai: The officials handling Hasan Ali Khan's money-laundering case were in for a rude shock today. They were ordered to "do their homework" by a Mumbai court which was hearing their request for custody of Mr Khan, who was arrested on Monday night by the Enforcement Directorate. "You have not been able to make any case and you want me to hear you. If you want to do some homework, you can take time," the Judge said before adjourning the proceedings till tomorrow.

Mr Ali whose different businesses include real estate, stud farms, and scrap dealerships, has been accused of stashing 8 billion dollars in Swiss banks. He has been asked to pay 70,000 cores as a penalty for tax evasion. But yesterday, the Supreme Court asked the government to consider bringing terror charges against Mr Khan. That's because investigating officials say they have recovered documents that suggest international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi transferred 300 million dollars to Mr Ali's Swiss accounts. This money may have been used to fund terror networks, say sources.
