The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to step up its pressure on the Congress on the Bhopal gas tragedy.Today had fresh cannon fodder with Arjun Singh, the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, telling the Hindustan Times that he didn't let Warren Anderson go. (Watch)

This, the BJP believes, endorses its argument that Warren Anderson's release was authorised by the top leadership of the Congress party in Delhi.

The man who at the centre of the tragedy then and now, in an interview to Hindustan Times said, "I have no locus standi on this issue." He further said, "I didn't let Anderson go."

Commenting on the statement of Arjun Singh, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar said, "Congress party should apologise for releasing Anderson."

As the Opposition targets the government, the Congress is emphatic in its denial that the Rajiv Gandhi government was responsible.

Defending the party, Congress spokesman Manish Tiwari said, "There were lot of things said in this quarter of a century ... Group of Ministers (GoM) is looking at it... "

Arjun Singh says that he will clear the air regarding Bhopal and Anderson in his forthcoming autobiography. But until that happens, the Congress finds itself in a tight spot.
