Advisory Against Travel to Kullu-Manali Due to Weather, Traffic

Chandigarh: The district administration of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh has issued an advisory against travelling to the region over the next 24 hours. The advisory was issued by the Superintendent of Police of the Kullu District in view of the weather conditions and the possibility of traffic jams in the area.

The Met Department forecast has ruled out fresh snowfall or precipitation in Himachal Pradesh for next one week. However, a western disturbance is expected to have an effect on the region's weather by December 24. Jammu and Kashmir has been facing cold wave conditions, with temperatures well below zero in a num,ber of places, while dense fogging has been reported in Punjab and Haryana. Other parts of the country'sd northern region too have been facing a cold wave.

The advisory against travelling to the Kullu-Manali also comes in light of the shortage of drinking water and electricity across the region, including Manali. At present, there are no reports of any tourists being stranded in resorts around Manali.
