Advani is mentor, so no question of criticising him, says Sushil Modi

New Delhi: Sushil Modi, senior BJP leader and Nitish Kumar's deputy in the government till a few months ago, had tweeted yesterday, "Advaniji has failed to gauge the public mood. Advaniji himself declared Atalji as PM candidate. Now also he could have done the same for Namo." He discusses his reaction with NDTV. Below are the highlights:

• I felt some top leaders had failed to gauge public mood
• Advaniji is mentor, so no question of criticising Advaniji
• So it should not be linked with today's developments
• It is not only party workers, in general people are demanding Narendra Modi should be made PM candidate
• There should be no if & but and I reflected that feeling of the people
• The public, workers are not willing to accept anyone other than Narendra Modi. You can't impose anyone as PM or CM candidate
• If you don't agree with the public mood, it becomes very difficult to win the elections
• You go on digging the same Godhra issue in each elections but you can't get the dividend of the same issue in each elections
• Whatever we had to lose , we lost in 2005 Bihar elections
• Don't want to answer old questions, what is happening today is the biggest issue
