Mumbai: Iconic Hotel Taj Mahal suffered losses of more than Rs 114 crore because of destruction of property in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, a top official of the hotel told the trial court in Mumbai on Friday.

"This figure was not conclusive as the assessment was still in progress and it can go higher...but the survey made till now had put the losses at Rs 114 crore," hotel's general manager (human relations) Vidyadhar Vaidya told special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

The Tata Group-owned luxury hotel had engaged the services of surveyor Nanawade and Company to assess the damage. Besides, a claim had been filed with an insurance company, the witness told Nikam in examination-in-chief.

To a question, the general manager said the sixth floor of the 100-year-old Taj Heritage had been completely damaged.

The 12th floor of adjacent Taj Mahal Towers was also destroyed. Two restaurants, Wasabi and Golden Dragon, too suffered damage in the attack.

The restoration work was in progress, he said. Defence lawyer K P Pawar declined to cross-examine the witness.
