Kidney - APKD

APKD is an autosomal dominant disorder, where the disease is passed on from the affected person to his children with a risk of 50 % for each person. There are also two genes whose defect can lead to the disorder. Therefore one has to find the change in the gene in a particular family before one can diagnose a person in the presymptomatic phase, and also make a prenatal diagnosis.
