Does my son need a Hepatitis B vaccine, if he had neonatal jaundice?
Question
My son has been given all vaccines except Hepatitis B. The doctors had advised not to give the hepatitis B when it was due, because his bilirubin count was high at the time of birth and my wife was also suffering from a mental shock, due to my elder brother's death in an accident. That time my son was 50 days old. Now my son is 2 and half years old and he is a normal healthy baby. Is any conjugate vaccine available for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A? How much does it cost and when can it be given?

Both vaccines are to be given separately. If the cause of jaundice in the early newborn period was hepatitis B infection, then hepatitis B vaccination is not required. However, if the cause of jaundice at that time was something else then hepatitis B infection can be given.
