Can multiple lipomas recur after being removed?

Lipomas are often multiple. Whenever I see a patient with a lipoma I ask – ‘You must be having more of these lesions elsewhere on the body’? After operation I tell patients that they keep appearing during life. So long as these lipomas are small there is no need to remove them. So when you ask, do lipomas spread after surgery, the answer is that new ones will appear whether or not you undergo an operation. I don’t know if there is any medicine for this.
