Can I go on a Medifast diet?
Question
I am a 37 years old woman. I had a kidney transplant done 7 years back. All my lab reports are normal. I want to go on the Medifast diet to lose weight. I want to reduce 60 pounds. This diet permits about 1000 calories a day, involving a high intake of protein. Something like 90 grams per day. Will this damage my transplanted kidney?

Such high protein diet is not at all recommended for transplant patients. It is likely to damage your kidney, and I would not recommend it. I suggest that you go on a standard reducing diet with plenty of exercises like walking and a reasonable amount of work outs.
