Highlights

  • Actor Amit Verma, popularly known for his role as Vish in TV show Hotel Kingston, feels there was more stardom on small screen earlier, but with an influx of new acrors it is difficult for the audiences to remember faces anymore.
  • "I have seen when I was doing Hotel Kingston, the stardom was much more. Now there are so many actors that you just don't remember who is doing what," he told IANS.
  • The actor started his career with Khichdi but gained popularity with his role in Hotel Kingston. He has acted in shows like Kittu Sab Janti Hai, Annu Ki Ho Gayi Waah Bhai Waah, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby and Saas Bina Sasural. After spending almost a decade in the TV industry, he feels every two years new changes crept in.
  • "I have been in television for eight to nine years now. I have realised that after every two years, there is a transition in television. One phase was with shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, where the actors were in demand. Then there were regressive shows, and then came reality shows. Things keep changing every two years. But I feel it has become more acting driven than just being driven by looks," he said.
  • The 33-year-old was recently seen in an episode of Star Plus' Teri Meri Love Stories. Like many of his colleagues, he too moved to big screen with films like Detective Naani and Kismet Konnection and calls his journey strange.
  • "It's been a very weird journey, very confusing. For the last couple of years, I didn't know what to do. I was concentrating only on films. The response to Kismat Konnection was good, but I was getting similar roles and I did not want to get typecast as a negative character because I don't have a negative face," he said.
  • He has another Bollywood offer, but unfortunately it has got delayed. "To be very honest, I was offered something very big in Bollywood. I was waiting for it too, but it's got really delayed. I waited for it, but I can't wait any further. If it happens good. Other than this I got offers but I was not interested," he said.
