Sony to Release The Interview in Mexican Theatres

A still from The Interview

Controversial comedy The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, will be released in nearly 200 Mexican theatres on February 6.

The film's release has been high on drama after theatre owners refused to screen the film due to terror threats from the hacking group 'Guardians of Peace'.

But the film later got a limited release and grossed over $5 million since its release on December 25, 2014.

In digital sales and rentals, The Interview has raked in more than $31 million, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

According to The Independent newspaper, the film will get an added boost on February 6, the release date in Britain as well.

The Interview, whose plot includes the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, prompted a cyberattack on Sony, followed by threats from terrorists.
