Iyer, whose album 'Historicity' was nominated in theBest Jazz Instrumental Album category, featuring MarcusGilmore on drums and Stephan Crump on bass, was beaten by lateartist James Moody's 'Moody 4B'.

Delhi-based tabla player, Sandeep Das, who wasnominated in the Classical Crossover category for The SilkRoad Ensemble's album 'Off The Map' lost out to 'Tin,Christopher: Calling All Dawns'.

Rahman, who won two golden gramophones last year forhis music in 'Slumdog Millionaire', has not been faring wellin the award circuits this year.

After Golden Globes, he also failed to win at theBAFTA's this year where he was nominated for his music in '127Hours'.

India's hopes are now pinned on the upcoming Oscars,where Rahman has been nominated in two categories - originalscore in '127 Hours' and original song 'If I Rise'.
