About Koppal

In the 2014 general elections, Sanganna Amarappa Karadi of the BJP won the Koppal Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 32,414 votes. He had got 4,86,383 votes, while his nearest opponent Basavaraj Hitnal of the Congress had received 4,53,969 votes.

In the 2009 general elections, Shivaramagouda Shivanagouda of the BJP had won the constituency by defeating Congress's Basavaraj Rayareddy.

Congress's HG Ramulu had represented this constituency several times in the past.

In the general elections of 2019, the candidates contesting include Rajashekhaar Hitnal from Congress, Sanganna Amarappa Karadi from BJP and Shivaputrappa Gumagera from BSP. Congress's candidate is also backed by Janata Dal (Secular).
