About Gulbarga

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka's Gulbarga constituency was held on April 23, 2019, in the third phase of the general elections. Gulbarga is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka.

In 2014, Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge had won from the constituency. BJP's Revunaik Belamgi got the second highest vote share. The overall margin of votes between the two candidates was 72,733. The polling percentage in the 2014 elections was 57.96%.

In 2009 too, Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge had won from the constituency.

In 1971, Congress's Dharamao Sharanappa Afzalpurkar had won the seat with 68.06 per cent vote share in the Gulbarga constituency followed by Sharanbasappa Appa Doddappa from NCO with a total of 30.08% vote share in the constituency.

In 1977, Congress's, Sidram Reddi was elected. In 1980 Dharam Singh of the Congress was elected.

In the 1996 elections, Qamarul Islam from the Janata Dal won from the constituency, and received 2,03,522 votes defeating Basawaraj Patil Sedam of the BJP, who received 1,87,976 votes.

In 1998, Baswaraj Patil Sedam from BJP was the winner, with 3,28,982 votes. In the 1999 elections Iqbal Ahemed Saradgi from the Congress was the winner. In 2004, Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi from Congress won from the seat, defeating Basawaraj Patil Sedam from BJP.

In 2019, Umesh G Jadhav from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mallikarjun Kharge from the Congress and KB Vasu from the BSP are contesting the Lok Sabha 2019 elections.

Gulbarga Lok Sabha constituency includes the assembly segments of Afzalpur, Jewargi, Chincholi, Chittapur, Sedam, Kalaburgi Rural, Kalaburgi Dakshin and Kalaburgi Uttar.
