The party denied ticket to late Ananth Kumar's wife. Ananth Kumar, the six-time MP from Bangalore South died in November 2018.

About Bangalore South

The Bangalore South constituency is currently vacant. It was held by late BJP leader and union minister Ananth Kumar who was elected from the constituency six times. The seat fell vacant after his death in November last year.

One of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, Bangalore South consists of Govindarajanagar, Vijayanagar, Chickpet, Basavanagudi, Padmanabhanagar, BTM Layout, Jayanagar and Bommanahalli assembly segments. The Bangalore South constituency went to polls in the second phase of 17th Lok Sabha election. The total number of registered voters were 21,66,445 among which were 339 third gender voters.

The seven-phase Lok Sabha elections will end on May 19.

Tejasvi Surya is among the 25 contenders for the Bangalore South seat. Among key contestants is Congress's BK Hariprasad. Congress had won the Bangalore South seat in 1989 and R. Gundu Rao represented the constituency in the parliament. R Gundu Rao was succeeded by BJP's KV Gowda.

A.Raju is the face of the Bahujan Samaj Party in the Bangalore South constituency. 14 contestants are independent candidates.

Karnataka voted in two phases and the poll results will be announced on May 23.
