Elections in Chhattisgarh took place in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23.

About Chhattisgarh

The Election Commission of India had announced voting in Chhattisgarh in three phases. Naxal-infested Bastar voted in the first phase on April 11. 

The constituencies of Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund and Kankar voted on April 18. Seven other constituencies in the state-Sarguja, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Kirba, Bilaspur, Durg and Raipur, voted in the last phase on April 23. 

In the last general elections, the BJP had won 10 seats in the state and the Congress had won one. 

A per the 2011 census, Chhattisgarh had a population of 2.55 crores, which by projection will be about 3.14 crore in 2018.

 According to the Election Commission of India, there are registered voters in Chhattisgarh. The state has 1,89,16,285 voters, comprising 94,77,113 men, 94,38,463 women and 709 third-gender persons. The number of voters between 18-19 years of age is 4,60,394 in the state
