The 17th Lok Sabha Election 2019 in Samastipur constituency of Bihar was held in the fourth phase on April 29, 2019.

Samastipur constituency is one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar. In 2014, LJPs Ram Chandra Paswan was the winner for the 2014 General Election. He received 2,70,401 votes. The runner up for the 2014 election was INC candidate Dr Ashok Kumar, who received 2,63,529 votes. The overall margin between the two candidates was 6,872 and the polling percentage was 57.38%.

In 2009, the winner for the 15th Lok Sabha election was JDU candidate Maheshwar Hazari who defeated the LJP candidate Ram Chandra Paswan and received 2,59,458 votes. The runner up received 1,55,082 votes respectively. The margin between the candidates was 1,04,376.

In 1971, Yamuna Prasad Mandal from INC won the elections. In 1977, Karpoori Thakur from BLD won the election in the Samastipur constituency. In 1980, Ajit Kumar Mehta, candidate from Janata Party's won. In 1984, INC's Ramdeo Rai won the election in Samastipur constituency. In 1989 Manjai Lal from Janata Dal won the elections. In 1991, Manjay Lal from Janata Dal was the candidate who was the winner in the Samastipur constituency. In 1996, Ajit Kumar Mehta, candidate from Janata Dal won. In 1998, Ajit Kumar Mehta from RJD won the elections.In 1999, Manjay Lal from JD(U) won the elections. In 2004, RJD's Alok Kumar Mehta won the elections.

In 2019 General Election, Dr Ashok Kumar from INC, Mantesh Kumar from BSP and Ramachandran Paswan from Lok Jan Shakti Party are contesting for 2019 Elections.
