About Paschim Champaran

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal was elected from Paschim Champaran in Bihar on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He received 3,71,232 votes. His closest opponent was Prakash Jha from Janata Dal United (JDU) who received 2,60,978 votes. Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal won the constituency by a margin of 1,10,254 votes.

 
In 2009 general elections Paschim Champaran constituency was won by BJP's Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal. Paschim Champaran constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.

 
Paschim Champaran parliamentary constituency consists of six Vidhan Sabha seats these are Nautan, Chanpatia, Bettiah, Raxaul, Sugauli and Narkatia.
