About Jahanabad

Dr. Arun Kumar, on a ticket from Rashtriya Lok samta Party, won the 2014 General Election from Jehanabad constituency in Bihar. He received 3,22,647 votes while his opponent from RJD, Surendra Yadav received 2,80,307 votes. 

From Jehanabad, Congress candidate Satyabhama Devi won twice, in 1957 and 1962 General Elections. In 1977 Hari Lal Prasad Sinha from Janta party was elected and in 1980 Mahendra Prasad was elected on a Congress ticket. 

From 1984 to 1996, CPI candidate Ramashray Prasad Singh was elected four times to the Parliament. In 1998, RJD candidate Dr. Surendra Prasad Yadav was elected. In 1999, Arun Kumar was elected on a JDU ticket and in 2004 Ganesh Prasad Singh from RJD emerged victorious. In 2009, JDU candidate Jagdish Sharma was elected. 

The assembly seats which fall under the Jehanabad Parliamentary constituency are Jehanabad, Ghosi, Makhdumpur, and Arwal. 

The General Election 2019 in Jehanabad constituency will be held in the last phase, on May 19. For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, JDU has fielded Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi from Jehanabad. Surender Yadav will contest with a ticket from RJD. 

After announcement of the RJD candidate from Jehanabad, Lau Prasad Yadav's elder son Tej Pratap announced that he would support an independent candidate from the constituency.
