In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sushil Kumar Singh from BJP won from Bihar's Aurangabad constituency fetching 30,79,41 votes versus the Congress party's Nikhil Kumar who got 2,47,941 votes.

Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat was won by Congress candidate Satyendra Narayan Singh thrice between 1950 and 1957. He was the first Congress candidate to have won from this seat. After him, Ramesh Prasad Singh from Congress won in 1961. In 1962, Swatantrata Party's Maharani Lalita Rajya Lakshmi won.

From 1971 to 1984, Satyendra Narayan Singh became a Lok Sabha lawmaker four times consecutively with support from Janta Party and Congress respectively. In 1989 and 1991, Ram Naresh Singh won the seat twice for Janta Dal. In 1996, the seat was again clinched by Janta Dal candidate Virendra Kumar Singh. In 1998, Samata party candidate Sushil Kumar Singh became the Lok Sabha lawmaker from this seat.

In 1999 and 2004, the seat was won by Congress candidates Shyama Singh and Nikhil Kumar respectively. In 2009, Sushil Kumar Singh won the Lok Sabha polls with a ticket from JDU.

There are six legislative assembly seats under Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency. These include Kutumba, Aurangabad, Rafiganj, Gurua, Imamganj, and Tikari.

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Bihar's Aurangabad were held in the first phase on April 11. BJP has fielded Sushil Kumar Singh again this time.
