Live : Kaliabor Assembly Election 2021

Kaliabor Lok Sabha constituency is one of 14 constituencies in the Assam. It consists of 10 assembly segments - Golaghat, Dergaon, Bokakhat, Dhing, Batadroba, Rupohihat, Samaguri, Kaliabor, Sarupathar and Khumtai. The Dergaon seat is reserved for scheduled caste.

Kaliagor constituency, a Congress bastion, will go to polls on April 11, in the first phase of 17th Lok Sabha election.

Sitting MP Gaurav Gogoi, who had won the seat last time by a margin of 93,874 votes, has again been nominated by the Congress party this time. Gaurav Gogoi is the son of Tarun Gogoi, former Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He holds a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Indraprastha University, Delhi.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who had the second majority votes in 2014 election, has given the seat to Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in a pre-poll alliance. Moni Madhab Mahanta will be contesting with the AGP ticket from the Kaliabor seat.

Among other contenders are Abdul Aziz representing National People's Party, Diganta Kumar Saikia from Hindusthan Nirman Dal and Hariqul Islam Bhuyan from Asom Jana Morcha from parties other than recognized national and state political parties.

Jiten Gogoi and Bhaskar Sarmah will contest as independent candidates.

In 2014 general election, 12,403 votes in this constituency were registered under NOTA - 1.06% of the total votes.
