Earlier in the day, the Central Government's Press Information Bureau (PIB) had also issued a similar clarification. The fake advisory, circulated in the name of NTA, claimed that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- Under Graduate (NEET-UG) 2020 has been postponed to August. The exams will be held on July 26 as scheduled.

NTA, through an official notification, said: “It has come to the notice of the National Testing Agency (NTA) that a fake public notice dated June 15 with the subject line-postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG July 2020- is being circulated through various sources and social media forums.”

NTA said: “ All candidates and parents are hereby informed that no such decision has been taken by NTA and concerned authorities till date.”

NTA had announced that NEET 2020 exams will be held on July 26 after postponing the exam from the initial date of May 3. The exam had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak which forced the Central Government to initiate a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of infections.

NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is held for undergraduate admissions to medical and allied courses across India. NEET is the only pan-India entrance examination which is being conducted for the medical undergraduate admissions.
