One of the personalities who loved children as much as Pandit Nehru was the 11th President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. He not only loved children but engaged with them time to time. It is not unknown that Dr. Kalam loved to personally take classes and teach children.

In his Children's Day interaction with school children in 2005, he told the young children who had assembled from different parts of the country, that apart from excelling in studies, they should also strive to become good human beings.

He reiterated the same sentiment in his interaction with children next year, i.e. on November 14, 2006 too. In his interaction he emphasized on the need to acquire knowledge to advance career. He also told the assembled children that they should contribute to the development of nation by using their spare time on Saturdays and Sundays to teach people in rural areas who cannot read or write.
