Physics Paper Emphasised More On Conceptual Understanding Over Rote Learning, Says Delhi Teacher
Physics paper was overall slightly lengthy and can be considered on moderate to difficult levels, says Pravindra Chaudhary, HOD-Physics, Bhai Parmanand Vidya Mandir. The HOD further adds, "Numericals were not directly from the NCERT book which brings a slight disappointment to the students about the relevance of the NCERT book.  In summary, the CBSE Class 12 Physics exam provided a comprehensive assessment of student's in-depth knowledge and deeper understanding of the subject along with applying Physics concepts to real world understanding. The paper emphasised more on conceptual understanding over rote learning.  CBSE's approach of framing the questions in a different and indirect manner will push the students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and application of Physics which will help them to prepare for competitive exams as well."

Physics Paper This Year Had 50% Numerical Questions, Says Gurugram Teacher
The difficulty level of the CBSE Board Exam 2024 was moderate, says Ankit Malhotra, PGT-Physics, Ajanta Public School, Gurugram. The paper this time consisted of around 50% numerical, unlike previous year which had 20% numerical.

Further explaining, he said, "Section A consisted of MCQs and Assertion Reason which was a bit lengthy part of the paper. It requires knowledge of class 11th concepts as well which might not be a problem for the bright students, but moderate students might have faced problem while attempting such tricky lengthy questions. Few questions were direct and easy."

"Section B majorly consisted of numerical which were quite tricky. Section C was comparatively easier consisting of few direct derivations and theoretical questions. This section was scoring for most of the students. Section D had Case-based questions which were purely numerical based and were of moderate level.  Most of the long answer questions in section E were asked directly from the basic content and were less time consuming. So, overall difficulty level was moderate. Internal choices were given in the paper."

CBSE Issues Clarification On Open Book Exam
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified its intentions to conduct a comprehensive study within its affiliated schools to assess the viability of implementing the OBE within the Indian educational framework.

The move aligns with the recommendations outlined in the National Curriculum Framework for Secondary Education (NCF-SE). Initially, the Board plans to experiment with the OBE approach and subsequently evaluate its feasibility within the Indian context.

Contrary to media reports, the CBSE has refuted claims about immediate plans to introduce the OBE in selected schools as part of a pilot run for specific subjects and grade levels. Instead, the Board is currently focused on initiating a study to ascertain the feasibility of the initiative.

In an interview with Education Times, Joseph Emmanuel, the Director of Academics at CBSE, said "Some media reports have created confusion; the CBSE has decided to undertake a study to understand the feasibility for bringing assessment reforms like the OBE based on recommendations in the NEP-2020 and NCF-SE 2023. The study would be conducted in select CBSE schools as it is important to first experiment, and then examine the viability of the OBE."

Mr Emmanuel further elaborated, "The CBSE has earlier introduced case-based questions in the board exam paper; students can answer the case-based questions only if they have a conceptual understanding."
