Minor boy crushed to death by speeding truck

New Delhi: A five-year-old boy was crushed to death by a speeding truck when he was travelling with his parents on a scooter in east Delhi on Monday evening, police said.

The incident took place near Ratandevi School in Krishna Nagar at around 5:15 pm when Gulshan Manchanda, his wife and his son Krishan were travelling on a scooter, a senior police official said.

"The boy was standing on the scooter while Manchanda was riding the scooter. As he was saving himself from the speeding truck, he fell with the scooter into a pile of garbage.

"However, the boy fell on the road and came under the wheels of the truck. He died on the spot," the official said.

They were rushed to a nearby nursing home where Krishan was declared brought dead. Manchanda and his wife suffered minor injuries.

The driver was arrested from the spot and the truck impounded.
