UK national cheated of Rs 8.7 lakh

Kanchipuram: Police were on the lookout for a person who allegedly cheated a UK national about Rs 8.7 lakh.

Police said David Haring, who was running a yoga school in England planned to tour India with his wife and had contacted one Venkatakrishnan of Mahabalipuram in the district through a travel agency for making arrangements for the tour.

Venkatakrishnan collected Rs 8.76 from Haring for making tour arrangements.

Venkatakrishnan could not be contacted after receiving the money following which Haring complained to the British police who through their embassy in India contacted the district SP Premanand Sinha.

Police were searching Venkatakrishnan, they said.
