Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is at the centre of a new controversy. His presence at a function to inaugurate the extension of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai has left a section of the Mumbai Congress unhappy - apparently because he was invited to a Congress-NCP platform despite his close association with former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh. On Wednesday night itself, Amitabh Bachchan responded through this blog:
"A fresh controversy has been rapidly manufactured on my involvement in today's event on the sea link. But of that some other time and space."
"I had been invited by a Minister in the Government to attend and so I went along."
Incidentally, just before attending the inauguration, Bachchan had strongly reacted to the Left's objection to him being a brand ambassador for Kerala - because he's already one for Narendra Modi's Gujarat.
Bachchan blogged: "Where is the connect with the glorification of the present Government? You take umbrage at my association with Gujarat, but never have the guts or courage to stop a Ratan Tata, or an Ambani from investing in the state and running successful factories and ventures there."
