Medical officer arrested for seeking bribe

Supaul: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught red-handed a medical officer for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for appointing a woman as Mamata worker (maternity worker) in Bihar's Supaul district, Vigilance sources said.

Raghunandan Ram, a farmer of Tullapatti panchayat had written a letter to the Vigilance department alleging that medical officer of Pipra Block, Jawahar Prasad had demanded a bribe of Rs 7000 for appointing his wife as Mamata worker.

Ram also said that he had already paid Rs 2000 as the first installment of the bribe money.

The Vigilance department on verification found the allegation to be true and laid a trap and the medical officer was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe money.
