Man held with live cartridges at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: A Bangladeshi national has been arrested for allegedly possessing seven live cartridges at the Mumbai International Airport here, police said on Friday.

The man, who works for a news channel as an executive officer in that country, was apprehended at the airport when security men during a routine check found seven live cartridges in his coat's pocket yesterday evening.

The Bangladesh national's name has not been revealed by the police.

"He had a flight early in the morning to Bangladesh. The CISF during frisking recovered the cartridges and subsequently he was handed over to us," Inspector B N Tambe at Sahar airport police station said.

He was booked under the Arms Act and his luggage was seized, Tambe said.

"The executive officer claimed that he had come to Mumbai for some work," the officer said.
