Income tax raids continue in Bhopal

Bhopal: Income Tax officials have opened the first locker of the IAS couple Arvind and Tinoo Joshi in Bhopal and have recovered jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh and several documents.

Both husband and wife have a tainted career record. Arvind Joshi was removed from the Water Resources Management department recently for alleged financial irregularities.

Last week, IT officers had raided three IAS officers' residences in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, two of them of the Principal Secretary Rank. They have raided 13 places in MP and seven places in Chhattisgarh so far. The raid includes insurance agents, businessman and engineers and IAS officers.

Tinoo Joshi took over the department of Women and Child Development in Madhya Pradesh in 2008 and made purchases worth rupees 100 crore for the department. In the first year of her tenure, 200 children died of malnutrition across Madhya Pradesh.
