Brain mapping test to nail Mumbai model's killer

Brain mapping test to nail Mumbai model's killer
Mumbai: The key accused in the Rinki Chaudhary murder case, Sahil Malik will now undergo a brain mapping test.

The Goregaon police have been trying to extract a confession from the accused since he was arrested last Saturday. But he has denied his involvement and stuck to his initial account of the incident.

"Malik has not been cooperating with police investigations and has been throwing tantrums. All evidence, including forensic and the post- mortem reports, point to him. But he has been cooking the same story that he was painting the wall when Rinki committed suicide inside the kitchen," said Surendra Paitankar, senior police inspector of Goregaon police station.

Although the result of this test is not admissible in court, the police want to use the results to help in further investigation.

Police, meanwhile, also questioned Malik's ex-girlfriend Shyamli Jain. According to Shyamli, Chaudhary had called her around 3.15 pm on the day of her death to enquire about Malik, as she was planning to marry him.

Shyamli, a model based in the city, was in Delhi with her family during the time of the murder. She was summoned by the police who registered her statement yesterday.

A team of Goregaon police officials, who visited Rajasthan in search of Malik's partner-in-crime, Shivam have been unable to track him.

Police said that Shivam was present at Rinki's place last Thursday and later left for Rajasthan. He was initially traced through his phone but now his phone is not reachable.

This has confirmed the police's suspicion about his involvement, as he has been on the run ever since.

"Shivam was seen by Chaudhary's building watchman on the day of the murder. Now that he is not traceable, we believe that he is an accused in the case," said Paitankar.
