The BJP tonight announced its candidates for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC).
The party also released a list of candidates for 25 wards of SMC which will also go to polls on May 27.
S S Minhas and Digvijay Chauhan will be the party's nominees for Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts respectively, BJP spokesman Ganesh Dutt said.
For the first time, the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor will be elected directly by the people.
The Congress has nominated sitting Mayor Madhu Sood as its Mayoral candidate.
Fifty per cent wards - 13 out of 25 - have been reserved for women candidates.
The SMC is controlled by the Congress since its inception in 1986. The party has swept the five Municipal Corporation polls held so far.
