Tamil Nadu govt allocates Rs 10 crore to upgrade dental hospital

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday announced Rs 1.25 crore to purchase 149 dental chairs for the Government Dental Hospital in Chennai. The move is a part of the state government's efforts to modernise dental treatment and improve oral hygiene among masses.

The state government has also allotted Rs 10 crore to upgrade the Government Dental Hospital in Chennai into a Centre of Excellence in Dentistry.

Recently, the state government had all government hospitals add a dental wing to the existing services they provided.

In rural areas, primary health centres are offering dental services three days a week to provide treatment and raise awareness on oral hygiene in the rural population.
