Minor blackmailed over 'sleazy' pictures in Bangalore

Bangalore: Family of a 16-year-old girl in Bangalore has alleged that a distant relative allegedly blackmailed, and extracted valuables worth Rs 15 lakh from her.

Farhan Hussain, brother of the victim, who filed the complaint said that the incident came to light when family members noticed gold valuables and cash worth Rs 15 lakh missing from home.

Upon search and inquiries, the victim started behaving suspiciously, after which the family members grilled her.

A detailed enquiry led her to confess that she was allegedly being blackmailed by a distant relative demanding money from her, stating that he had video clipping of her alleged 'sleazy acts', and he would expose her if she did not pay the amount.

Hussain said that the family was saving money and jewels for her wedding.  The Mico Layout police who took up the investigations found that the girl has been engaged to the accused without the knowledge of her parents. She also started helping him financially since the accused is jobless, and wanted to start his own business.

When the girl's family came to know about the case, they convinced the girl to call off the engagement and filed a complaint alleging blackmail to retrieve the valuables.

"We have summoned the accused to record his statement. Even though they were engaged, it's not legal since she is a minor. We will have to call it off," said PSI Mirza Ali Raza who is handling the case.
