Renault is gearing up for its Strategy Day event, where the spotlight will fall on the Bridger Concept, a new urban SUV show-car. Ahead of its reveal, Renault has explained the thinking behind the name, underscoring its global ambitions. Compact yet spacious, the Bridger Concept is designed to meet the needs of families living in fast-growing urban centres. With India playing a central role in its development, the Bridger Concept signals Renault's intent to strengthen its presence in high-growth markets worldwide.
Renault's Head of Naming Strategy, Sylvia Dos Santos, offered insight into the name during a video shared on the company's official YouTube channel. She said: "With Bridger, we are adding to our family of names based on English words. This one comes from the word 'bridge', with the letters 'ER' added for identification. The name Renault Bridger is part of the same approach as the name of Renault Duster. It's a powerful, robust and versatile name, ideal to identify our new urban SUV show-car and open a new page in our international offensive!"

Further the brand emphasises, the Renault Bridger Concept itself is a bold SUV under four metres in length, yet designed to maximize cabin space. Styling cues borrow from the latest Duster, with muscular proportions, a strong shoulder line, and modern detailing. Despite its compact footprint, Renault has emphasized practicality, making it suitable for families in dense urban environments.
Reports suggest the production model of the Bridger concept is internally codenamed RB3-K2 B-SUV, and will feature multiple powertrain options. Alongside the familiar 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, Renault is expected to add a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit. Hybrid and fully electric versions are also under consideration, with probability of using battery packs of 35 kWh and 55 kWh likely to be offered. This would allow Renault to position the SUV across price points, expected to be placed at a range of Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.

What makes the Bridger project particularly significant is its India-centric development. Renault has confirmed that the production SUV will be designed and manufactured locally at its Chennai facility. This approach aligns with the company's broader investment strategy targeting high-growth regions such as India, South Africa, and the Middle East, ensuring the Bridger Concept plays a pivotal role in Renault's global expansion.
