TVS Tangent RR's Design Patented, Aprilia RS 457 Rival To Carry BMW's Twin-Cylinder Engine

TVS has filed the design patent of the Tangent RR in India. The motorcycle will be powered by the new 450cc engine, seen on the BMW F450 GS. Here's what the upcoming Aprilia RS 457 rival looks like.

TVS Motor Company is moving closer to bringing its futuristic motorcycle concepts to reality. After showcasing the Tangent RR at the 2025 EICMA show, the company has now filed a design patent, hinting at a possible production version in the future. The patent drawings retain most of the styling cues seen earlier, suggesting that TVS intends to stay true to the aggressive design language of the concept.

TVS Tangent RR: Design

The Tangent RR's silhouette is sharp and purposeful, clearly aimed at track performance. Highlights include twin headlamps, a steeply raked windscreen, and low-mounted clip-on handlebars that create a sporty riding stance. The fuel tank is muscular, the fairing has a distinctive cut, and the underseat exhaust adds flair while keeping the design compact. Slick tyres point toward racing intent, and the bike is expected to run on 17-inch wheels at both ends.

TVS Tangent RR: Hardware

Hardware choices underline its performance focus. Upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock form the suspension setup, while braking duties are handled by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is likely to be standard. One of the standout elements is the monocoque subframe, which not only reduces weight but also improves rigidity and airflow, making the bike more stable at high speeds.

There is speculation that the Tangent RR could eventually be launched as the Apache 450 RR, built on the new 450cc twin-cylinder platform co-developed with BMW. This partnership, which began with the 310cc series, has now expanded to larger displacement motorcycles and even electric projects. Also, reports suggest that BMW is also preparing a 450cc motorcycle that is expected to carry forward the same design with several tweaks to make it identical.

TVS Tangent RR: Engine Specs

Powering the Tangent RR will be the same 450cc twin-cylinder engine seen on the BMW F 450 GS. It produces 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. For a track-focused machine, TVS may tweak the output and gearing to suit performance riding. Advanced rider aids and electronic features are also expected to be part of the package.

TVS RTR Hyper Stunt

Alongside this, TVS has also patented another concept - the RTR HyprStunt. This motorcycle is designed specifically for stunt riding and comes with unique components rarely seen on regular sports bikes. It features axle-mounted footpegs, a single seat, wide handlebars, sharp bodywork, and a rear grab rail built for tricks. The bike uses a tubular frame with USD forks and a rear monoshock. Interestingly, it skips a headlight altogether, focusing on weight reduction for stunt arenas. A free-flow exhaust adds to its lightweight character, while power is expected to come from the liquid-cooled RT-XD4 engine tuned for stunt performance.
